Are you a Promzilla?

By Arielle Palladino

Watch out -- there are tons of promzillas on the loose! You may know one: She's the girl who gets so stressed out about planning the perfect night that she snaps at friends, shuns people from the limo, and makes unreasonable demands of her date. Wait a second...what if YOU are the promzilla? Take this quiz to find out.

Your date buys you a corsage that's fuchsia and your dress is fire-engine red. You:

A) Refuse to wear it. You can't wear pink with red!
B) Wear it anyway. It's the thought that counts!
C) Wear it for photos, and then "lose" it on the dance floor.
D) Throw it on the ground and step on it with your four-inch stiletto heel. The night is basically ruined and it's barely begun.

How do you plan on getting to prom?

A) Renting a limo with only your closest friends.
B) Oops...you forgot you have to plan that.
C) Renting a limo with a large group of friends, so it's less expensive.
D) Making your date pick you up in a rented vintage mustang. It's all about the entrance.

A girl at prom is wearing the same dress as you. You:

A) Make it your night's mission to avoid her, and ask your friends to remind you that you look better.
B) Laugh it off and take lots of funny pictures with her.
C) Point it out and compliment her good taste. Start dancing with friends, so it's not obvious that you're bummed.
D) Spill punch down her dress. Now you definitely look different.

A week before prom, you still don't have a date. You:

A) Forget waiting for your crush to ask you -- you go ahead and ask him!
B) Just plan on going with friends. A date would only slow you down on the dance floor.
C) Invite your best friend's younger brother so you'll have someone to take pictures with, but you won't have to be stuck to him all night.
D) Make your best friend's date ditch her for you. You're not wasting months of preparation and you're definitely not going alone.

The hairstylist gives you Keri Russell curls instead of the Blake Lively waves you wanted. You:

A) Force a smile, but don't leave her a tip. You'll have your friends fix it at home.
B) Think the change is fun and new! Thank the stylist for her work.
C) Go home without complaining and put a couple of bobby pins in your 'do at home. It will probably relax over the next few hours.
D) Scream at her, demand she rewashes and re-curls your hair for free, and complain to her manager about her incompetence.

Your parents think the dress you want is too expensive. You:

A) Repeatedly tell them how much you love it and suggest doing more chores around the house to earn it.
B) Totally agree. You wouldn't want to make them spend a lot on something you wear only once.
C) Offer to pay for part of it yourself as a compromise.
D) Make a scene in the store and remind them that it's not their prom, it's yours. You'd refuse to leave without it.

What are your ideal pre-prom plans?

A) Going out to a really nice dinner with close friends and their dates, even if it might put one or two people over their budget.
B) Eating dinner with the family before getting ready and waiting for my date.
C) Getting ready with a group of girls at a friend's house, and then taking group photos in the backyard.
D) Making your mom host a catered dinner for all your friends, so that you can take all the pre-prom photos at your house and you can stand front and center.

Do you like to wear red lipstick for formal occasions?

  • Yes! It's so old-school glam.
  • Sometimes, but I also love sheer lip gloss.
  • No, it makes me feel unnatural.
