What's Your Prom Shopping Style?

By Sarah Wassner Flynn

Sure, the night’s memories will be priceless, but at what cost? Find out if you’re a spendthrift, a spending queen — or a little in between!

What’s your spending plan for the biggest night of your life?

A) Go with a group and try to divide all the costs among everyone.
B) Start planning early to sleuth out cash-saving deals and discounts.
C) What plan? As far as you’re concerned, money is no object.

When it’s time to shop, you can be found at:

A) The mall, for sure! You love the mix of stores (and sale racks!).
B) Any thrift store — other people's giveaways are your treasures!
C) Cute boutiques that sell the hottest designers and one-of-a-kind items.

The store’s just opened and you’re the first one there. You:

A) Head right to the back. That’s where the sweetest deals are.
B) Browse the racks to see what'll work with what’s already in your closet.
C) Chat with your fave sales assistant as she preps your usual fitting room.

You found $20 at the bottom of your bag. Sweet! You:

A) Spend half of it now on lunch, and apply the rest to your prom-shoe fund.
B) Put it toward beads for the necklace you’re making to wear on the big night.
C) Treat yourself to a caramel macchiato and a 15-minute massage. Ahhhh!

Prom day — let the countdown begin! On your to-do list:

A) Hair appointment, then back home for a mani-pedi party with your girls.
B) A visit to the cosmetics counter at the mall for a free makeup application.
C) Facial, highlights, salt rub, teeth whitening. And that’s your morning!

What new accessory are you most excited to show off?

A) An amazing butterfly necklace you can also wear with jeans after the prom.
B) A vintage clutch you scored from your grandma’s attic. So chic!
C) The diamond-studded tiara you charged to your dad’s platinum AmEx.
