How to Pose for Prom Photos
By Julie Miller
Couple
Play up the chemistry with your date by leaning into him slightly. Put one hand on his back, place the other in his, and relax your shoulders. You'll look like you enjoy being together.
Smile
Practice your photo face before the big day by having a friend take digital pictures of you (or log serious mirror time). Make note of which smiles look best (do your eyes get squinty when your smile is too big?). As your picture is taken, think silly thoughts so your smile looks natural and genuine.
Group
To make sure everyone can be seen, shorter people should be in the front of the group, taller people in the back. Gather together and lean toward the middle of the group to create a central focal area for the photographer. Have fun with poses, but take at least one classic smiling shot for your parents.
Alone
The biggest rule of all: Don't slouch! Stand with one foot in front of the other and turn slightly to the side (think Paris Hilton's trademark pose it's a flattering angle for any body). Tilt your head and make eye contact with the photographer as you hold your shoulders back. Your body language will say "sexy and confident."
